I’m like a machine.
This month’s release date is February 2nd, and I have new ambient by me as Calmer Feeling, Ambient Matyk, Aleodeology, Cloud Drift, and Meditative Drift. Beats and drones by Tanpura Express. Drones by Saag Paneer. Distorted beats by Samesed and Chillout Preservation Collective, and creepy noises by Vibrating Wires.
As with all “new release months”, I’ll be plugging the new tracks into established playlists that get listens, and I’ll make a new playlist or two and distribute them to the various streaming services.
Does it work? I don’t know… Don’t look at me for answers, just ideas and experiments.
While I say, “Never give up on your catalog!” keep in mind that recording artists have no idea whether their latest release will go anywhere. I did pitch every new track to Spotify for Artists and Amazon Music for Artists in the past month. You never know. All you can do is try.
And I’m not talking about any of this being “hit music”. Just getting listens is a miracle, much less repeated listens. I make rather oddball ambient, for the most part. It’s niche. But I’d like to hope that some of it finds the listener who appreciates it and wants to take a deeper dive.
