DISCO.AC is a professional service used by recording artists to share tracks and playlists with music supervisors in film & video, sync license agencies, and other music industry peripheral players.
It took me a long time to figure out how to use DISCO. I don’t say that lightly. I think it’s complicated to learn. Pond5 (stock music licensing) was a snap to use by comparison. That said, DISCO did teach me a lot of things in the process, and I guess for that alone there is some value.
Substack won’t let me embed a DISCO playlist, but here’s the link if anybody would like to give it a try: https://s.disco.ac/horpcwarraqp
It’s probably going to look like this once you click through:
That looks good, I must say.
And a lot of the options DISCO provides are excellent if you’re working with music supervisors, sync license agencies, and other creatives. I’m just trying to get to that point with my catalog. I regularly send submissions to various sync license agencies, but I’m sure they are inundated. And “ambient” isn’t high on the list of desired genres, although it’s often used in various shows, films, and especially with drone video.
I’m going to renew my (kind of expensive) subscription for another year. I might as well stick it out and keep plugging along. Not all agencies and supervisors use DISCO, but a lot of the good ones seem to gravitate towards it. I don’t want to be using Spotify playlists for submissions, and you can’t use that sort of thing if somebody wants to use an actual track.
